Last book read: C.S. Forester, by Sanford Sternlicht. This is a biographical literary criticism on the works of C.S. Forester. He was author of such books as became films as "The Afican Queen" & "Sink the Bismark." He also wrote what he considered hack biographies when he was getting started as a writer, a few of these having to do with Napoleon & Josephine, for whom he held a fascination.
He is probably most famous for his books about his protagonist Horatio Hornblower. Having never read any of his works and basing my opinion on the far-fetched name of his maritime hero alone, I figured they were children's stories. This is not the case. They are for readers of any age and are largely concerned with naval action in the Napoleonic Wars.
It's a very interesting book if you can lay hand to one.
